Greg Thomas: writer & editor

WRITING PROFILE 


I am a freelance critic, editor, and copywriter (NCTJ qualified) with interests in modern art, literature, design, photography, and architecture.

Current and past freelance employers include Aesthetica,
Artforum, Art Monthly, Art UK, British Journal of Photography, Burlington, Burlington Contemporary, The Little Sparta Trust, MAP, PMC Notes, PN Review, Scottish Art News, and the Scottish Poetry Library. My book Border Blurs: Concrete Poetry in England and Scotland was published by Liverpool University Press in 2019. 

I hold an NCTJ qualification in magazine journalism from Harlow College and I am a former British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow, having completed my project Judgements and Sentences: Politics in the Life and Art of Ian Hamilton Finlay during 2014-17. I have a PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, an MPhil in Culture and Criticism from the University of Cambridge, and a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Sussex.
